What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a natural form of health care that is concerned with the relationship between the structure (primarily the spine) and function (primarily coordinated by the nervous system) of the body and how that relationship affects one's health.

Slight misalignments in the spine, called subluxations, can occur from something as serious as a car accident or from something as minimal as a twist or turn during a normal, everyday activity.  Because nerves exit from every segment of the spine to supply all the organs, muscles, and tissues in the body, these subluxations cause issues in areas far removed from the spine.  Over time, even the slightest misalignments cause poor health, as regular transmission of nerve impulses is altered and the body is not able to respond and adapt to its ever-changing environment.

Chiropractic uses adjustments to correct misalignments and restore proper function to the nervous system, helping the body to heal on its own.  A chiropractic adjustment - the application of a precise force to a specific spinal segment or extremity - corrects the misalignment, permitting normal nerve transmission and assisting the body to heal naturally. Our doctors use a diversified method to adjust the spine and extremities.  For patients that prefer instrument adjusting as opposed to manual adjusting, Dr. Marchman is proficient with the Impulse and Activator adjusting instruments.
